Cybeast Saga Chapter 18

Chapter 18: Revelations

Last time, Lan and Megaman visits ACDC Town and reunites with Maylu, Dex, and Yai. But, Diveman and Blastman kidnaps Roll, Gutsman, and Glyde causing Megaman to fight them in the Undernet. After he deletes them both, Circusman captures the weakened Megaman and escapes. Before going back to Cyber City, Lan receives Roll as his temporary Navi to rescue Megaman.

We turn to see Vic, Ito, and Blackbeard at Seaside Town.

"Yeah! With the Cybeasts in our hands, we don't have to care about Baryl anymore! Now, we are ready to fight! First we shed our WWW bonds, then we'll move forward with our own organization!" Vic explained.

"By the way... Where did Blastman's Operator run off too'?" Blackbeard asked.

"He went back to Baryl... It would seem he has no interest in betraying the WWW, and I don't know why." said Ito.

"Hmph! I'm sure we're all curious to know why he would be so loyal to Baryl. But that doesn't matter to us. Since we're a real organization now, we should do things for us and only for us!" Vic frowned.

"Tee hee hee... If that's the case, I've got a great plan!" Yuika's voice sneered as she walks up to her comrades.

"And where have you been all this time Yuika?" Vic asked.

"Doing the obvious! If we're rebelling against Baryl, we should tell him! So I told him "We're not listening to you anymore!" And the mighty Baryl was speechless." Yuika grinned,

"Is that right, lass? He got what he deserved!" Blackbeard boasted.

"Anyway, you were saying about a great plan?" Vic asked.

"I did... I got good news from our dear "benefactor". Apparently, there are these Cybeasts Worshipers in the Undernet who can call out the Cybeasts' max power." Yuika explained.

"Cybeasts Worshipers?" Blackbeard repeated.

"He said if we convince them that we're with the "priest", they will do whatever we want them too. Plus he also sent us a little doll for us to use..." Yuika said.

"Interesting... Then let's go see these Cybeasts Worshipers..." said Vic as the group leaves.

(With Lan and Roll...)
Lan made it back to Cyber City with Roll and went inside his house.

"So Lan, how are we going to find Megaman?" Roll asked as she was standing on Lan's shoulder as a hologram.

"I don't know Roll. Those WWW punks could have taken him anywhere. If only we had any leads on where to find them." Lan said, then suddenly his PET rang.

"It looks like you got a phone call..." said Roll.

"Hello?" Lan said as he answers the phone, and it was Mick.

"Lan! Is Megaman around?!" Mick asked frantically.

"No, he's not here Mick." Lan answered.

"Ah man! I thought so!" Mick said.

"Huh? What's wrong?" Lan asked.

"It's all over the news! It's saying a monster is rampaging all over Seaside Town! It looks like a Navi in a Copybot! And it looks just like Megaman! He's acting like that time he tried to rescue my Navi." Mick explained.

"What!? I'll call you back!" Lan said as he hung up.

"What is it Lan? Is something happening to Megaman?" Roll asked worriedly.

"Megaman must be possessed by the Cybeasts again! And if he's inside a CopyBot, there is no telling what damage he might cause. We have to go to Seaside Town and stop him!" Lan shouted.

(At Seaside Town...)
Lan appears and with Roll on his shoulder as a hologram. The two look around and sees that the entire area is a complete mess and people are in a panicking.

"Unbelievable..." Lan said in horror.

"Did Megaman do all this?!" Roll gasped.

"Yikes!" Lan shouted, and at that minute, a huge crash blew him back, and as the dust cleared, it was Megaman in his Beast Out Gregar form snarling at him and Roll.

"M-Megaman?!" Roll gasped.

"M-Megaman! You have to fight the Cybeasts' control!" Lan grunted as he got up, and Megaman snarls as he then turns into his Beast Out Falzar form.

"Megaman! Please, you have to fight it!" Roll pleaded to him.

"I don't think he can hear us!" Lan said.

When Megaman was about to attack Lan, the latter covers himself for protection, but suddenly, Megaman stops.

"What the?! He stopped!" Lan gasped.

"But how?" Roll asked, then Lan turned around and sees Iris raising her hand and her eyes were flashing red.

"Iris!" Lan gasped.

"...?! It's no use! I can't control him completely!" Iris gasped.

"Iris! Who or what are you?!" Lan demanded.

"This isn't the time for that Lan! You have to keep trying! We have to get through to him! He's fighting the Cybeasts right now!" Iris told Lan and Roll.

"Okay!" Lan nodded as he turned to Megaman. "Megaman! You have win this thing!"

"That's right! You can do it! You can control the Cybeasts!" Roll cheered.

Beast Out Megaman continued to snarl at them, but he said something...

"L-Lan... Roll... What's happening...?" Megaman gasped.

"Megaman! He can hear us Lan!" Roll smiled.

"That's it Megaman! Keep on doing it! You were able to beat back the Cybeasts, and you can do it again!" Lan cheered.

As Megaman continues to struggle with the Cybeasts, he suddenly held his head and unleashed a powerful roar which blew Lan and Iris back. As they got up, the only thing the only thing he saw was a Copybot.

"What happened? Where did Megaman go?" Lan asked.

"It looks like he escaped into the Cyberworld." Iris said sadly.

The ex-WWW members were watching the events from afar and just witnesses the results.

"W-What just happened? Those Cybeasts Worshipers put a lot juice in their spells to awaken the Cybeasts." said Yuika.

"Shoot! We messed up!" Vic frowned.

"We have to find Megaman and get him back!" said Ito, then the ex-WWW members ran off.

"I'm sorry Lan... If only I kept him under control a little while more..." Iris said.

"Under control...?" Roll wondered.

"This is a disaster!" one man yelled.

"This area isn't safe anymore..." another woman nodded. "With all this going on, I wonder if the Expo is..."

"Everyone!" Mayor Cain shouted as he and the hooded boy walked down the steps. "Please remain calm. There is nothing to worry about. Creating a safe town is one of my duties as mayor. The monster will be found and examined."

"Monster?! What do you mean by that?!" Lan demanded.

"Hm...?" Cain sees Lan rose an eyebrow. "I see, so that was monster just now was Megaman. This is beginning to make sense. That is how that monster was able to win the Selection Test..."

"Hey! Who are you calling a monster?!" Roll snarled.

"Well if he is not a monster, then what is he hmm? If you ask me, all I see is nothing but a monster." Cain said.

"You take that back! about Megaman" Lan shouted.

"I am afraid I cannot allow Megaman to be the Operator Navi. He must be captured and examined at once." said Cain.

"Why you..." Lan snarled at him, and at that moment, the mayor's secretary appear and whispered something to him.

"I must be going be now, I have an emergency meeting." said Cain as he walked off with the secretary and the boy following him.

"I can't believe that man! He had some nerve calling Megaman a monster!" Roll fumed.

"I have a gut feeling he's hiding something. What do you think Ir..." Lan turned to see Iris is gone once again.

"Hey! Where did that girl go?" Roll asked.

"Don't know. She just appears and disappears whenever crazy stuff happens." said Lan, then suddenly his PET rang.

"Hey Lan, you got mail. It's from someone by the name of Mach." said Roll.


"Mr. Mach? He's my homeroom teacher at Cyber Academy. What does the email say?" Lan asked.

"It's saying he wants to talk with you. He wants you to meet him Sky Town right away." said Roll.

"Mr. Mach seems to be in a rush... Let's see what's up." said Lan as he leaves for Sky Town.

Minutes later, Lan made it to Sky Town and he finds Mr. Mach standing near an edge.

"You wanted to see me Mr. Mach?" Lan asked, Mr. Mach was silent and turned to Lan.

"...I'm sorry Lan." Mach said.

"Huh? Sorry about what?" Lan asked.

"For kidnapping your friends' Navis, and for taking Megaman away. I had a hand in it all..." Mr. Mach said sadly.

"W-What are you talking about?" Lan asked as he was confused.

"I am Blastman's Operator. On the first day you came to Cyber Academy, I tricked Mick and made the security bots go crazy. That was all me..." Mach explained sadly, then Lan becomes shocked by what Mach said.

"N-No... It can't be! That's a lie! It can't be true!" Lan yelled.

"You can hate me if you like. But I just wanted to tell you the truth... That's why I called you here." Mach said.

"Please tell you're joking Mr. Mach!" Lan said as he couldn't believe it.

"Lan, I think he's serious." Roll said grimly.

"She's right... The only reason I'm helping is because I want to feel better about myself on the inside. I'm really a no-good person. What I have done are things that can never be healed." Mach said sadly.

"I see... But do you know where Megaman is right now?" Lan asked.

"I do... Right now, Megaman is being held in the Underground." Mach said.

"So where is that place?" Lan asked.

"You know the large hole in Central 3? I heard that Megaman jumped down there. At the bottom of the hole lies a part of the Cyberworld known as the Underground. It was where the Cybeasts were sealed. Maybe the Cybeasts sealed inside Megaman made him go there." Mach explained.

"Hey!" a voice yelled and Lan and Roll turn to see the weather man staring at them.

"The wind's going to be really strong today! It's dangerous to stand out here! Better get inside!" the weather man shouted, then Lan notices Mr. Mach at the elevator.

"Mr. Mach!" Lan gasped.

"I will probably fight you again, as long as Baryl commands me to." Mr. Mach said.

"So Baryl is a member of the WWW. I thought he might be involved ever since I saw Colonel." said Lan.

"I can't turn my back on Baryl, but I hope you can believe that even if my actions caused pain and suffering. I-I care about my students with all my heart. Good bye my student." Mr. Mach said sadly as he entered the elevator.

"Mr. Mach... I understand what you mean... So I'm going to do my best to save Megaman! You with me Roll?!" Lan asked with determination.

"I'm with you all the way Lan!" Roll nodded.

"Thanks... Now let's head to Central 3 now!" said Lan as he heads back home.

In his bedroom, Lan has already jacked Roll into the net. Roll made it Central 3 and approaches the pit.

"Is this it Lan?" Roll asked, and Lan nodded.

"That's right. This is the very pit to the Underground, in which the Cybeasts were sealed." Lan said through his screen.

"Alright. Hang on Megaman; we're coming to save you!" Roll shouted with determination.

Roll charges to enter the Undergroud, but a barrier repelled her.

"What happened?" Lan asked.

"It must be some kind of barrier. I can't get through..." Roll pointed out, then a Navi approached her.

"Excuse me miss, but what exactly are you doing?" the Navi asked.

"I'm looking for the Navi that attacked Seaside Town... I was thinking he may have come by here." said Roll.

"The Navi that went on a rampage at Seaside Town? He was here moments ago tearing things apart. But suddenly, he jumped down into that big pit. The area at the bottom is called the Underground which is like a monster's lair. It is where the Cybeasts were sealed for all time." the Navi explained.

"But why would Megaman go in there?" Lan asked from his screen.

"Doesn't matter, we need to get into the Underground and find Megaman." Roll said to Lan.

"If you want to get into the Underground, you need to see the Mayor and get his permission." the Navi explained.

"Shoot! Looks like we have to ask Mayor Cain for permission to enter. Jack out Roll." Lan sighed, then Roll jacks out.

(At Cyber Academy...)
Lan heads towards the Principal's office where Mayor Cain is supposed to work, but a security bot is standing in front of the door.

"Excuse me... We need to see the Mayor." said Lan.

"I'm sorry, the Mayor's in a important meeting right now." the security bot said.

"But we need to see the Mayor! It's really important!" Lan shouted.

"It's no use Lan, that bot won't listen to a thing we say..." Roll who is on Lan's shoulder as a hologram said grimly.

"Darn it! We're running out of time!" Lan panicked.

When Lan got downstairs, he saw Mick walking up to him.

"Lan! I was getting worried! Is Megaman okay?" Mick asked.

"No, a lot of things happened, and..." Lan explained the his situation.

"I see, so without the Mayor's permission, you can't save Megaman..." Mick said sadly.

"That's right. You think you can distract that security bot so I could get in?" Lan asked.

"That's really simple. All I have to do is something really bad, then that security bot will come after me." said Mick as he noticed the monitor and grinned.

Mick walks up to it and gets out his PET, and his Navi appeared as hologram.

"You ready?!" Mick asked his Navi.

"Just leave it to me." said Mick's Navi as he went back into PET and began short circuiting the monitor, causing the alarm to go off.

"System error! First floor lobby!" the announcement said.

The security bot guarding the Mayor's office came down with some security boys surround Mick.

"Mick..." Lan said softly.

"It's sad to be alone when your Navi is gone, and you really want to do something right? I know how that feels, because I've been there too. Hurry and save Megaman!" Mick told Lan.

"Thanks Mick!" Lan smiled.

"Now let's have a chat with Mayor Cain..." Roll said seriously.

(Inside the Mayor's office...)
Mayor Cain is currently talking to Captain Blackbeard.

"We must be careful. I thought I told you we couldn't meet in person. I must maintain my clear image. I can't be seen associating with people like you." Mayor Cain said coldly.

"Don't worry, I came by meself. I didn't attract any attention. Besides, yer not really a clean person are ye? Ye were helping WWW until a little while ago, and now yer our sponsor! Yer's heart's blacker than Ito's hair." Blackbeard laughed evilly.

"Just hurry up and tell me what you want." Mayor Cain said coldly.

"Oh right! We're looking real hard for that rat, Megaman, but he'd be hidin' out in a certain place and we need yer help." Blackbeard said.

"I was thinking of contacting you about that. You need the barrier to the Underground removed right?" Mayor Cain asked.

"Heh, yer pretty good." Blackbeard smirked.

"But before I do that, would you care to explain how Megaman escaped? Did you not use the Copybot I sent you?" Mayor Cain asked sternly.

"Aye, that's an interesting tale. Megaman were causing all sorts of trouble at Seaside Town 'till a strange lass showed up and suddenly, the Cybeasts were quiet..." Blackbeard explained.

"Suddenly...? ...No, it's not possible!" Mayor Cain muttered as he figured it out. "Anyway, I will remove the barrier. I don't care how, but I want you to get Megaman back!"

"What the?!..." voice gasped, then Mayor Cain and Blackbeard turned to see Lan and Roll staring at them.

"Mayor Cain... What is Blackbeard doing here?" Lan demanded.

"You see! This is what I was talking about." Mayor Cain told Blackbeard angrily.

"Why's this kid doing here?!" Blackbeard yelled.

"Hmph! It's too bad you found me out, but you're not going anywhere!" Mayor Cain said evilly as he and Blackbeard walked up to Lan.

"You're... You're working with Blackbeard?!" Lan gasped in shock.

"Yes, what you just realized is absolutely correct. I am cooperating with Blackbeard here." Mayor Cain said evilly.

"Then... You have been tricking everyone this whole time!" Lan yelled.

"Yes, and I plan on keeping it that way!" Mayor Cain growled.

"But why?! Why would you do such a thing?!" Lan gritted his teeth.

"I guess the reason is that I wanted political power. To get to the top, I've cooperated with many dirty people. As for the Cybeasts, I would do anything to get my hands on them." Mayor Cain said has he turned his back. "Yes... The destructive and fearsome Cybeasts... They belong in my hands! That was written into my fate from the day I was born!"

"What do you mean?!" Roll demanded.

"... I will tell you. The story from the beginning..." said Mayor Cain as he begins his tale.

"A long time ago, when the Cyberworld was in its infancy, humans were met with an unusual incident that they couldn't find the root of. What happened was that large numbers of bugs had gathered in one area of the Cyberworld and had gained a will of its own. All of a sudden, they formed into one giant lump. The thing that surprised people the most was that those bugs had fused for some reason, forming into a beast like shape. It was like a previous phenomenon when this country had fused some bugs together, and Gospel was born. These bugs became violent, much like a beast, it started to destroy the Net."

"You mean?!" Lan gasped.

"You are half right... Only Gregar evolved from bugs. Humans came up with many different plans and tried to delete Gregar, but all of them have failed. Just when they were losing hope, one brilliant scientist rose to the occasion. That scientist was trying to make a program that could take down Gregar. People started to count on this man and he came be known as a savior. Long months went by, and the program was completed. The scientist's skill was real, and his program seemed to have the power to defeat Gregar. But something terrible has happened. During the violent fight with Gregar, the scientist lost control of the program and it started to act wildly destroying everything as well. It might have been because it was too powerful..." Mayor Cain stated coldly.

"So that program was..." Lan figured it out.

"Yes. That program was in the shape of a phoenix, and it's code name... Falzar! Because of Falzar, the damage to the Net was even worse than before, and then the scientist became the focus of everyone's anger. "It's because you made that monster!" is what people said. In the end, instead of being a savior, that scientist became a devil. He fell so far in society's eyes that he could never show his face in public again. However, I believe the scientist who was called a devil, and what he did for him to be erased from history is a grave mistake. Anyway, even though Falzar became wild, he couldn't forget his base program to defeat Gregar. The two beasts fought violently many times, and then one day, they backed each other into a corner. "Whoever moved first would lose." was what it had become, according to the witnesses. That's when the people saw their chance. They thought to bury Gregar and Falzar where they were - in the depths of the Cyberworld. They were successful and peace returned to the Net. This is the truth between the Cybeasts legend." Mayor Cain finished.

"So you see, I must have the Cybeasts! Because that devil scientist was my grandfather, Dr. Archimedes R. Cain." Mayor Cain said coldly.

"I don't believe it..." Roll gasped.

"My grandfather could not master the Cybeasts, but I will master them! With two Cybeasts, I will control the world, and then the world will see just how brilliant my grandfather was!" Mayor Cain yelled.

"You're... You're just like Wily! You're nothing but a madman who is willing put innocent people in danger all just to accomplish your selfish ambition!" Lan yelled.

"Gahahahaha! Well there's no hope for ye!" Blackbeard smirked evilly, then the hooded boy from before entered the room.

"Ah, perfect time... Dispose of this intruder at once! He must not be allowed to leave at once." Mayor Cain ordered.

"Sorry... But I can't do that." the boy said.

"W-What! I gave you an order!" Mayor Cain yelled angrily.

"Enter now." said the boy, then suddenly few Net Police Navis using Copybots entered the office and surround Blackbeard and Mayor Cain.

"They're... They're Copybots!" Blackbeard gasped.

"What is the meaning of this?!" Mayor Cain demanded.

"The meaning?! I'm just doing what I came here to do. To find evil people like you and arrest them, and reveal them to the public no matter who they are! And now that I have evidence of you working the WWW, you're finished!" said the boy.

"W-What?!" Mayor Cain, gasped, suddenly the boy took off his cloak and Lan got a good look which leaves him shocked.

"Ch-Ch-Ch-Chaud!" Lan gasped, for it was indeed his rival, the Ace Official NetBattler of Electopia, Eugene Chaud.

"Curses! An Official! You tricked me!" Mayor Cain growled angrily.

"Mayor Cain, Captain Blackbeard... By my authority as an Official, you are under arrest!" Chaud stated, then the Copybots grab Blackbeard and Mayor Cain and handcuffs them.

"Let me go! Let me go ye yellow scrap of junk!" Blackbeard growled.

"N-No! Not now... The Cybeast are mine!" Mayor Cain shouted as he and blackbeard were taken away.

(Inside the hallway...)
The Net Police took Mayor Cain and Blackbeard away, and Lan is currently talking to Chaud with Roll standing on the former's shoulder as a hologram.

"I can't believe that weird guy was you all along Chaud! I know you had to hide on this mission, but couldn't you have at least told me!?" Lan asked.

"To fool your enemy, you must first fool your friends. Didn't I say that a long time ago?" Chaud asked.

"You're just as straight-laced as ever!" said Lan.

"And you're still too nice." Chaud replied.

"Hey!" Lan gawked.

"After the Cybeasts where sealed inside Megaman, you were being followed by many people who worked on Mayor Cain's orders so that he could get the Cybeast. You probably had no idea if I imagined. If I were to even tried to talk to you, my cover would have been blown." Chaud explained.

"I understand..." said Lan.

"Anyway, we don't have time to stand around and talk Lan." Chaud reminded Lan.

"He's right! We have to go after Megaman!" Roll agreed.

"Yeah... We need to get to the Underground where he's hiding." said Lan.

"I already used Cain's computer to remove the barrier to the Underground. There was security, but it wasn't anything special. You should be able to get to the Underground now." said Chaud.

"Thanks Chaud... Roll and I are going to find Megaman and bring him home!" Lan said gratefully.

"You must be careful Lan... The situation right now is very complex. Listen carefully. Right now there are two groups after Megaman. The first group is one you know very well... the WWW. The second is a group that was being run by the Mayor. Originally, the Mayor was working with the WWW, but recently they have parted ways. Mayor Cain seemed to have found his own power... For example the Cult of Cybeast Worshipers in the Undernet." Chaud explained.

"That cult was working for the Mayor?!" Lan gasped.

"They only knew him as the "priest". Those Worshiper's teachers were all made up by the mayor, just so he could get the Cybeast. But they are not big deal, and now that their "priest" has been arrested, they should naturally stop their operations. The real problem is the other part group of the Mayor." said Chaud.

"Other part?" Lan asked.

"It would seem the Mayor was able to steal a few people from the WWW. And from the looks of it, I would say that Blackbeard was one of them. Even with the Mayor gone, they probably won't stop. They're almost definitely still after Megaman." said Chaud.

"Don't worry Chaud... Roll and I will get back Megaman! You can count on it!" said Lan.

"Okay... Once I done asking the Mayor questions, I'll send Protoman to back you up. Stay alert!" Chaud told Lan.

"We will! Come on Roll! Let's go get Megaman back!" Lan said.

"Yeah!" Roll nodded.

Now the mission to rescue Megaman is underway.
